SHENYANG IN CHINA, 20 -21 SEPTEMBER 2012 – Driven by stricter emission standards and tightened fuel-efficiency policies, improving fuel economy and cutting emissions has become the mainstream of the global car industry. The green competition has led to significant technical progress including the application of lightweight, high performance materials, and the commercialization of electric vehicles. Noppen’s 3rd Annual China Automotive Summit aimed to provide a strategic opportunity for key industry professionals from China and abroad to network and explore cooperation and business opportunities.
In close co-organization with Shenyang Municipal Bureau of Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation and with support from the Turkish Association of Automotive Parts and Components Manufacturers, Noppen hosted the 3rd Annual China Automotive Summit in Shenyang, on the 20th & 21st of September, 2012. Attended by over 100 prominent industry leaders, senior directors and engineers from the major multinational and domestic automakers, tier 1 systems integrators, as well as solution providers, this congress illustrated China's latest industrial policies, innovative technologies as well as strategies towards automotive lightweight implementation and electric vehicle commercialization.
Opening speech at the congress was given by Mr. LI Yi, Deputy Director, Shenyang Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology who presented on the current status and future prospects of Shenyang’s automotive industry. Mr. BIE Tao, Vice Director, Department of Policies, Laws and Regulations, Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China introduced the latest regulations on vehicle emission control. Mr. JIANG Jiang, Deputy Director and Associate Research Fellow, Research Institute of Industrial Economics and Technical Economics, National Development and Reform Commission, introduced the latest industry policies on New Energy Vehicle Development from NDRC’s point of view.
Keynote speakers at the event were Dr. Mehmet DUDAROĞLU, President, Turkish Association of Automotive Parts and Components Manufacturers (TAYSAD) who gave an overview of Turkish automotive supplier industry and Mr. Brian TIAN, Director of EESE, Volvo Car China who presented on Volvo Cars electrification strategy. The Day One Morning Session ended with a panel discussion monitored by Mr. WANG Xuefeng, Director Body Development, AUDI China R & D, industry experts discussed the major challenges of automotive light-weighting and shared the best practices in building a collaborated platform across the supply chain to accelerate automotive light-weighting process.
Industry leaders introduced their most up-to-date technology information. Mr. Markus LINDEMANN, Sales & Marketing Director, TRUMPF (China) Co Ltd introduced the application of lasers in automotive lightweight manufacturing. Mr. Bernard NEGRE, VP Global Body White Operations Business Development, ABB made an insightful presentation on Flexible Body Shop New Generation, which has attracted great attention from the audience. Mr. Markus RÜTERING, Asia Sales Manager, Laserline introduced their innovative diode laser for automotive manufacturing.
During the afternoon session, Mr. Guenther RUCHEL, Senior Manager Engineering Topics Purchasing Process, BMW China Services Ltd and Mr. Thomas ROTH, Head of Car Body and Equipment Engineering, BMW Brilliance Automotive Trading Ltd presented on Architecture Between Aesthetics and Comfort –The Body of The New BMW-Brilliance 5 Series Sedan. Dr. LIU Qiang, Deputy Chief Engineer, Director of NVH and Materials Engineering, Geely Automobile Research Institute introduced on the latest R & D status of auto recycling and reuse within Geely Automobile. Mr. Daniel DARANCOU, Chief Designer, CH-Auto Technology Co Ltd shared his perspective on automotive lightweighting from a designer’s point of view. Mr. BAI Jianren, Former Deputy Chief Engineer, FAW Group and Honorary Vice Chairman of Auto Materials Chapter, SAE China, an well known expert in HSS & UHSS research, shared his expertise with the case study ‘Application of High Strength Steel and Ultra High Strength Steel in Vehicle Lightweight’.
On Day Two, Mr. ZHANG Dawei, Founder and CEO, TZGEV LTD introduced the business mode of TZGEV as the leading new energy vehicle sales and service provider for both end users and electric vehicle manufacturers. Mr. XU Jian, Managing Director, Arthur D. Little China explored the potential of EV commercialization with an insightful presentation on Car-sharing: A Promising Option for EV? Mr. XIA Xianming, Deputy General Manager, Shanghai Zhongke Lifan Electric Vehicle Co Ltd introduced the development status of Electric Cars in Zhongke Lifan. Mr. FU Xiangyang, Senior Staff Engineer, Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center Co Ltd shared his experience in automotive lightweight engineering with the case study on Cost-effective Lightwighting Strategy for Vehicle Body Design.
