7th Annual China Fashion Retail Expansion Summit

In close cooperation with China Electronic Commerce Association, Noppen hosted the 7th Annual China Fashion Retail Expansion Summit in Shanghai on 16th to 17th May 2013. Attended by over 120 prominent industry leaders, senior government officials and executives from leading fashion brands, e-retailer companies, top intelligent management solution providers, the summit illustrated China’s newest industrial situation, rewarding experiences, advanced technology solutions for fashion brands’ E-commerce expansion, intelligent channel management and marketing branding.

Mr. CHEN Zhen, the Vice President of China Electronic Commerce Association addressed the gathering about the China E-commerce market’s present situation and the positive role in promoting fashion retail. He presented the professional data and gave his perspective on E-commerce industry. 

The speakers from best E-retailers in China like Tmall, Vancl, Vipshop shared their views on fashion market and experiences on different management. Mr. DONG Fang, the Senior Manager from Tmall shared his knowledge on the Life Cycle Management, which helps Tmall manage the fashion commodities effectively. Mr. ZHANG Lei, Assistant President of V+ Mall, the open platform of Vancl spoke about their data management, which helps them and their partners (brands) operate the online business smoothly and save the operation cost. 

Mr. TANG Yizhi, Senior Vice President of Vipshop, explained further that the E-retailer will not only play the role of acting as a platform, but will become a bridge between the customers and brand. Based on the big data analysis, they can provide the brand what the customers’ likes are as well as customers’ preference for specific productions and will help the designer and factory understand their customers well. 

Next was Mr. Fred LAM from IBM, who emphasized on the intelligent management and interaction between brands and customers. He introduced the audience to the advanced technology to maximize the collection which will gain customers’ favor through the social network, website browse history, in-store behavior. These data can help brands enhance their customers’ shopping experience using the advanced technology. 

The speakers Mr. WANG Ronghui from CROCS China and Mr. WANG Dan from Mark Fairwhale are the person in charge of E-commerce business in their companies. They shared their experience about the new market expansion and operation, especially about the different product positioning for online and offline customers. 

Mr. HE Peng, Senior Architect from Motorola Solutions gave a detailed introduction to the application of Barcode Technology and illustrated many successful cases to show how the QR Cord and RFID can help the customers have an excellent shopping experience. Mr. Darren Fifield and Mr. Federico Manno from GSI Commerce showed the advanced solutions to help the brands establish a multichannel execution system, which can optimize the internal management and also the shopping experience. 

Mr. WANG Aihua, the General Manager from Terra Nova hosted forum 2 in the afternoon and shared the newest information and technology for intelligent interactive solutions for fashion brands to enhance the shopping experience of the customers. 

Day two started with Dr. MAO Tao who is from the MIIT, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is currently working on establishing an online mediation platform, to help customers to mediate E-commerce dispute. The platform is the first one in China and can promote E-commerce market’s healthy development. 

Mr. XIONG Yuhong, Vice President of JD, one of the biggest online retailers in China shared his professional opinion on the future of mobile commerce with humorous lang. He said the mobile commerce will revolutionize the retail industry and with the mobile internet and devices, customers can enjoy shopping anytime, anywhere and search the production with different means as well as share it on the internet. He further explained the future development of mobile internet and mobile commerce. 

Mr. Eddy FONG, the Regional Sales Manager from hybris showed the audience an omni-channel retail network. He also stressed that the mobile will become an essential tool for brands to connect with the customers as well as effectively manage the channel to help the retailers do better in the “Intelligent shopping era”. Mr. ZENG Kuang, the Sales Director from Esri highlighted solutions which are based on the GSI Technology to help the retailer especially new comers find out a best way to develop their business. 

Other speakers included Neil Ducray, Managing Director & Chief Strategy Officer from Touchmedia, Vera WANG, Research Analyst from Euromonitor shared their studies in mobile marketing and China retail industry. 

The event ended with a panel discussion hosted by Ms. Lifern WOO, Consulting Partner from KPMG. Panelists including Ms. Esther Alsono, Global E-commerce Manager from Mango, Ms. CHEN Li, E-commerce Manager from Forever 21 and Mr. Alexandre Misseri, Senior Vice President from Razorfish Consulting. They discussed on ways to find a best way to expand online business in China Market and means to balance the online and offline market and also on establishing good partnership for smooth expansion. 

There were more than 120 delegates who attended this summit and had in-depth discussions to promote development and cooperation for the fashion retail industry.
