China High End Packaging and Brand Innovation Summit

November 21st & 22nd, 2013, Shanghai, China

With the rapid development of the economy, the luxury packaging market of Asia-Pacific region will gradually grow beyond the relatively mature markets of Western Europe and North America and its share of total output value in the global luxury goods packaging. From the point of production, China is the main luxury packaging market in the Asia-Pacific region and globally after United States is the world’s second-largest luxury packaging market. 

China High End Packaging and Innovation Summit took place on November 21 - 22, 2013 in Shanghai, China. This event drew senior officials and presidents from government bodies and industry associations along with presidents, chief designers, brand directors, strategy director, marketing directors and project directors from major manufactures of cosmetics, perfume, tobacco, tea, alcohol,food and other luxury goods, packaging design institutes, brand innovation enterprise and consulting agency. 

The two day summit began with Mr. LIN Hai, Brand Expert of the MIIT, was the Chairman for Day 1. He welcomed everyone and later did a presentation on “Creative Brand and Strategy Management” where he illustrated many brand innovation cases. Professor YU Mingyang, Party Secretary of Antai College, Economic & Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University made an excellent presentation on “New Challenges for Brand Construction in New Environment” where the audience benefitted from his presentation. Next, Mr. XING Xinghuai, Chairman of Prestige S.A.R.L Parfums Nanjing Paris, spoke on” Prestige S.A.R.L Parfums and Chinese Perfume Industry” where he spoke about his business startups as well as the growth process of Chinese perfume industry. 

Mr. ZHAO Zuoliang, a famous domestic design master from SHAW & SHAW, presented on “Capture Value through an Innovation” where he showcased new concepts of designs and ways to bring life to traditional brands. Next, Ms. HUANG Wen, Deputy Director of Design Center of Shanghai Laofengxiang Co. Ltd. presented her paper on “Laofengxiang’s Classic Works and Packaging Design”. 

Mr. Fabian FURRER, International Department President of Dongdao Design was the chairman for Day 2. He spoke on “EXPERIENCING→UNDERSTANDING→EMBRACING” where he spoke about UX (user experience); where ‘experiencing’ a brand is the best form to understand and therefore, potentially embracing the brand. Mr. GUO Ruidong, Vice President of Gaocheng Art Group spoke on “Bring Art to Life: Let Life be More Artistic”. Mr. YAN Keyu, IT Co. Ltd. Director of Shanghai Jahwa United Co. Ltd. gave a presentation on “E-Commerce Platform Construction” and “Small Data Acquisition”. Through his presentation, attendees learnt more about marketing innovation of the traditional cosmetic brand followed by discussion among the audience and the speaker. 

Ms. Catherine KANG, Managing Director of Claire’s Stores (Shanghai) gave presentation on “New Concept of Brand Construction and Innovation in the Digital Marketing Era” and Mr. LIAO Ming, Head of Digital Operations and Consumer Engagement Marketing, North Asia, Unilever was another excellent speaker who spoke on “Big Data Innovation for Brand Marketing”. Ms. Connie LEUNG, Senior VP of Consulting Business & Marketing in CIC, spoke about “Unleashing the Power of Social Media” where he focused on the importance and power of social media in marketing and brand innovation. Also, Mr. Kevin GENTLE, Digital Strategy Director of Labbrand Enterprise Management Consulting (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. presented on “Beyond Communication: Using Digital to Create Innovation All Along the Customer Journey” and Mr. Peter MACK, Executive Director of Landor made a presentation about “Blurring the Lines Between Object and Experience”. 

Also, Luxury Packaging Limited, one of the silver sponsors, arranged for their CEO, Mr. Anthony HAN to make an excellent speech on “Packaging for Branding or for Customer Value?” as well as Innovia Films, also a silver sponsor, arranged for their Marketing Manager of Asia Pacific, Mr. Richard FERNANDEZ, to speak on Aligning Packaging to Enhance Sustainability and Brand Values. Besides this, Exhibit Sponsors: Axilone Shunhua showcased their newest products to all the delegates as well as got an opportunity to have an in-depth discussion with the leading fashion brands.
