After a few years of economic downturn, the commercial vehicle sector in Latin America is once again standing strong. In 2017, almost 3 million vehicles (LCV, HDT and buses) were produced in Latin America* and the truck and bus market it predicted to keep growing with 7.1% between 2016 and 2023.

Technological advancements such as electrification and autonomous driving are expected to bring a change in the industry and new emission standards implicate that many vehicles will need to be replaced in the near future. Annual sales of commercial vehicles is therefore expected to top 200 000 units by 2023**.

Out of the three leading countries – Mexico, Brazil and Argentina –, Mexico has surpassed Brazil in vehicle manufacturing and with annual production figures of approx. 2 million LCVs and over 150 000 trucks and buses, it has become the 7th producer and 4th exporter worldwide of commercial vehicles.

The “2nd Latin America Commercial Vehicle Summit” will be held on 18 & 19 October 2018 in Mexico City. Organized by LNoppen, at this summit, senior officials and presidents from government bodies and industry associations, along with top level executives, technical and R&D directors and project leaders from major logistics companies, OEMS and parts manufacturers will be invited to discuss new development trends and policies, core R&D and manufacturing technologies as well as the end user’s demands and green freight solutions.

After two successful editions of the Latin America Hospital Expansion Summit, Lnoppen will be hosting the 3rd Annual Latin America Hospital Expansion Summit in San Jose, Costa Rica on September 13th and 14th 2018. Costa Rica is investing over 1 billion dollars for upgrading existing facilities like the Hospital de las Mujeres, Hospital de Niños and Centro Psiquiatrico Penitenciario.  These investments are also poured into the construction of new hospitals and the acquisition of cutting-edge tech equipment for the hospitals. Other countries where major investments are taking place are Mexico, Chile and Colombia who each have a government plan to increase health infrastructure in the coming years.

At the 3rd Annual Latin America Hospital Expansion Summit, government officials, investors, hospital management groups, clinics, social security institutions, health ministries and contractors will be meeting medical device suppliers, insurance companies, technology & service vendors, distributors, consultants, banks and regulatory bodies.

After three successful editions of the Latin America Port Expansion Summit in Mexico and Andean region of Latin America; Lnoppen will host its 4th edition in the Southern Cone: Chile.

Chile is coming back to the floorplan in terms of port investments in the region, with around 900 million USD being invested in the main terminals of the country and another 600 million USD that is being invested in design and planning studies. According to the Chilean Chamber of Construction, approx. 2 billion USD will be spent in the port sector in Chile by 2020.

At the same time other countries such as Colombia, Peru and Central America keep expanding and upgrading their terminals as well as developing plans for new ports and terminals.

At the 4th Latin America Port Expansion Summit; government officials, investors, port authorities and port & terminal operators will go in discussion with consultants, architects, construction companies, equipment providers and service groups, in order to better explore the market and support the project development.
