2009 Advanced Wind Technology and Investment Summit

BAOTOU, INNER MONGOLIA, CHINA, 27-28 AUG 2009 – Recognizing the value of exploiting the potential of wind as a source of renewable energy, China is widening its strategy to expand onshore generation and further explore prospects of sustainable development for offshore wind power.

Noppen's "Advanced Wind Technology and Investment Congress" took place on 27-28 August 2009 in Baotou, Inner Mongolia in co-organization with the Baotou People's Government of Inner Mongolia, which provided a focused business-to-business platform with several one-to-one business meetings to discuss China's newest industrial policies, advanced technology solutions for wind farms, and the most up-to-date statuses on major projects. Focus was placed on opportunities and challenges facing wind power electricity integration and future investment in offshore wind power.

Meng Qinglong, Division Chief of High Tech Industry of the Development and Reform Commission of Inner Mongolia, and Guo Jian, Deputy Director of the Development and Reform Commission of Baotou Municipal Government introduced the market situation and ballooning investment environment in Inner Mongolia and Baotou.

Keynote speakers included Zhou Fenqi, former Director General and Senior Advisor of the National Development and Reform Commission Energy Research Institute covering trends and challenges for the China wind industry to speed up global wind power development and explore offshore wind power. President of the World Wind Energy Association, Anil Kane, offered a global view of the wind energy market. He Dexin, President of the China Wind Energy Association, reviewed the current progress of the wind power industry in China and its sustainable development. Corporate speakers from Sinovel, Goldwind, and Shanghai Electric SEWind shared experiences on facing the wind power market with China leading wind turbine manufacturing.

Attendees enjoyed a welcome dinner organized by the Baotou Development and Reform Commission with regional Mongolian cuisine and performances, highlighting the hospitality of the Mongolian people.
