6th China Refining & Petrochemical Summit

China petrochemical industry needs to improve their technical solutions to maintain constant growth and to expand towards centralization. The industry output is expected to reach close to 13 trillion RMB by the end of 2012 and will increase 18% from last year. According to the 12th Five-Year Plan, they will pay more attention to oil cleanliness and quality. While the authoritative association indicates that by the end of 2015 energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions will reduce by 15% compared with the end of 2010. Also, with the new plan there will be 100% treatment rate of industrial effluent and 90% treatment rate of solid waste.

With this information Noppen decided to host their 6th China Refining and Petrochemical Summit on October 18th & 19th 2012, in Shanghai, China. It truly provided an excellent platform for major oil companies, operators, petroleum engineering companies and petrochemical material companies to share their opinions and experience on the industry. The summit was industry focused and allowed industry leaders from China and afar to discuss the latest industrial policies and technologies for setup and operation of petrochemical plants. This summit was also to help set up partnerships with distributors, suppliers and solution providers.

The summit’s opening speech was given by Mr. CHEN Rui, Senior Analyst of CNPC, He mentioned that the petrochemical industry needs to improve their technical solutions to maintain constant growth and to expand towards centralization and government will pay more attention to oil cleanliness and quality. He also talked about the status and trends regarding the international oil market and oil price. Up next was Mr. YANG Hongwei, Research Fellow Director of Energy Efficiency Center, Energy Research Institute. He presented on the new requirements of petrochemical industry for China’s future energy development. Followed by Mr. QIAN Bozhangm, the GM of Jinqiu Petrochemical Workshop, and also represent the Wilson Engineer Company, Mr. Qian shared his accumulated experience with us about the challenges and opportunities of the oil and chemical industry in the Co2 reduction. The next presenter was Mr. GONG Jialong, the GM of Changlian Petrochemical Company, this pioneer of Private Enterprise Oil Company gave discussed how to make a right choice with investing in the petrochemical industry. MS. SHU Zhaoxia, the Chief Expert of Economics Development Research Institute Sinopec, shared her views on the macroeconomic trends and policies regarding the petrochemical industry. Another influential speaker was Mr. ZHOU Yue, the senior engineer at the Policy Research Centre for Environment and Economy, during his speech he showed the audience the current status and trends of the environmental policy for petrochemical industry.

In additional to the influential speakers, there were many excellent speeches that received even better feedback such as Mr. Munawer AL-MUTAIRI, the manager operation for the refinery and gas plant of KNPC, he introduced Mina Al-Ahmade Refinery in Kuwait. Mr. GAO Huijie, a representative of Fushun Research Institute of Petroleum and Petrochemical, he discussed the new technology on wastewater recycling. Dr.Prof CHEN Hongbin, from the Environment Science and Engineering School of Tongji University, he has showed the audience an efficient way to recycle of the petrochemical wastewater. Mr. Elvis YANG the deputy Managing Director of BMGI, and day two’s chairman, discussed petrochemical operations. Mr. YU Haibin, Research Director of the catalyst department, represented CNOOC Tianjin Chemical Research & Design Institute; he presented advanced technology used to reformat non-hydro-fining catalyst TCDTO-1. Mr. Lao Guorui, minister of aromatic hydrocarbon, from CNPC Kunlun Engineering Co Ltd talked about the aromatic and derivative industry, through his speech, the audience has learned about evolution trends with energy consumption in the world.

Also at the Summit innovations or introductions of new products were introduced such as Durr’s, our speech sponsor, arranged their Senior Sales Manager, Kate Fang to introduce Exhaust Air Treatment and Waste Liquid Combustion that can be used in the industry. Schaeffler, another speech sponsor sent two speakers to introduce their reliable bearings for petrochemical plant operations, the two speakers were Mr. XIANG Zheng, Energy Sector Manger and Mr. LE Binwang, Industrial Service Manager.

The summit was an excellent platform to discuss the past, present, and future of the Industry, along with building new relationships.
